Living Bomb “Best Spell Ever” in 3.2
by laz on Jul.05, 2009, under Public Test Realm

So it’s official [Living Bomb] is now the best spell ever (at least in 3.2), and why you may ask? Because now you can cast it on more than one target at a time, though they have not yet updated the tooltip to reflect this yet. Bear in mind this is only on the Public Test Realm and may never see the light of day. Personally I can’t see why it wouldn’t (though being a mage myself might be cause for bias).
Anyway something else occurred to me while I was reading though patch notes for 3.2. Remember we talked about the changes to Empowered Fire!
[Empowered Fire]: In addition to its existing effects, this talent now also grants a 33/67/100% chance to regain 2% of base mana each time the [Ignite] talent deals damage.
Now let’s put this together with the new
[Glyph of Living Bomb] which gives our Living Bomb tics a chance to crit and proc ignite which in turn would trigger the new Empowered Fire talent granting us mana back. Now I’m not sure how well this is going to work but considering that you can put living bomb on multiple targets now and each tic on every target has a chance to crit and ignite this could be very interesting.
Tier 9 Mage Set

Today Blizzard unveiled the tier 9 set for mages. I can hardly contain my surprise at the stark use of the color purple and neon lighting. I guess if you have to paint a target it might as well glow in the dark huh? But in all seriousness I think I was more disappointed that the mage set is just a clone of the priest and warlock sets with *ahem* more purple. This also reminds me of a great youtube video
Mage Q & A with Ghostcrawler
by laz on Jul.02, 2009, under News

We used to call the mage the master of AoE damage, but we’ve since decided that’s not a great niche for anyone. The “AoE class” feels mandatory in situations where you do have large crowds of enemies to contend with, but then the AoE class gets bored when everyone else is maximizing their single-target damage on a boss. Now we try and give AoE tools to all damage-dealing specializations (specs), though we will always make extra effort to make sure mages stay good in that department.

Patch 3.2 Mage Changes
[Arcane Blast]: Mana cost reduced by 12%
Arcane mages are one of the most mana challenged specs to play which makes this change very welcome, by the time you hit your third stack of the debuff your saving around 200 mana per cast. (see table below)
| Debuff | Mana | After 3.2 |
| no stacks | 253 | 222 |
| 1 stack | 759 | 667 |
| 2 stacks | 1265 | 1113 |
| 3 stacks | 1771 | 1558 |
Welcome to Magetrainer.com

Welcome, and thanks for visiting. My name is Laz and I’m the administrator of Magetrainer. Having played World of Warcraft since the Alpha I’ve tried every class to greater or lesser degrees (yes even warlocks) but none have held my attention as well as my mage. I admit there have been times when I’ve become perfectly frustrated (putting it mildly) with the state of things and had to put my mage away for a bit, in the end however I always seem to come back. I built this site for the purpose of sharing ideas (or at least amusing rants) about my own experiences in leveling and playing a mage, in time I hope to add other writers here as well who want to do the same. Anyway thanks for stopping by and I hope to see you again.
